A red wine designed by scientists for the Australian heat! Tarrango delivers sour cherry, watermelon and citrus zing with featherweight freshness. Best served cold - this is what red wine looks like when it's built for our climate. A beach-cricket kind of red.
Designed by CSIRO scientists in 1972 for the scorching heat of inland Australia, Tarrango crosses noble Portuguese Touriga with humble Sultana to create something that shouldn't work but does - thriving on minimal water, retaining champagne-level acidity at 38°C and yielding abundantly where European varieties struggle. Delicate sips of sour cherry and pink grapefruit, impossibly light on its feet and dangerously easy to drink straight from the fridge.
